holland never sleeps

Last week was like no other week. I got home on Monday night from Vienna, and then I had two days in Heidelberg until I took another trip! I didn’t really get to rest up that much on Tuesday and Wednesday lol. I had a few classes, hung out with Ruben, and baked at the Schwarz’! It was good time back in HD. But then it was time for my next journey! This time, to Maastricht, Holland ♥

This was my first time traveling alone in Europe! And everything went smoothly ( : I arrived in Aachen, Germany around 5pm, where Katharina came to meet me! Then we took a bus (we bought bus tickets for cheaper from a drug dealer/Moroccan) over the border to Holland!! We arrived to Maastricht and got to her apartment! It was such a great weekend!! I LOVE HOLLAND. We did some grocery shopping for dinner that night. She had friends over every night to make dinner! I was impressed! None of us ever cook like they do… it was very inspiring! I got to chill at her place and I met a lot of her different friends and her roommate. A lot of her friends were German, but there were some Irish, Dutch, Turkish, Italian, and British people too! I wish I went to school in Holland!

And then we chilled and for a few hours before we went out! The student life here so immensely different here than anywhere I’ve been! People don’t go out until 11:30-midnight! That being said, we left at 11:45pm to meet a friend and then we went to De Beurs! ♥ Omg I love De Beurs. So many Dutch people. I love them all. I love how their personalities, their humor, how they do their hair, and how they dress! I actually thought they were going to be like Germans, but they’re widely different. There is a strong rivalry between them actually which was sort of weird to me. But anyways, we got home at 5am.

The next morning we did some touristy stuff. Did some shopping and tried out different Dutch snacks. Then some of Kat’s friends came over and we cooked dinner! We hung out and relaxed before another night out. We met some friends at the Highlander at midnight, then went to some other lounge after that. I met some more fun people. I love the diversity. I even met a guy from Heidelberg! Which is rare lol. We got home pretty early around 3am. Good thing because we were going to Belgium the next day!!

Belgium was fantastic. We went to Burges and then Brussels. I’ve never seen so many canals, horse carriages, and chocolate and waffle shops all in one city! I was so extremelyyyy exhausted though. By the end of the day when we got back to Maastricht, we were planning on going out again. But our bodies ruled us this time. We all accidentally fell asleep by midnight. Kate at the TV, Kat on her couch, and me at Kat’s laptop! Lol. I needed sleep badly.

My last day in Holland was sad. I didn’t want to leave yet! Me and Kat took a bus tour around Maastricht, which was fun. It was a great weekend in Maastricht, but it was time to leave : ( I got to my train 3 minutes before it was gonna leave D: Haha that was a close one.

Good news though… I’m coming back to Maastricht before I go back to the states!! YAYY. Only for one night, but it’ll be my last night in Europe, so it’s gotta be a good one! :O
